Happy 4th Birthday Amy - Part 1

Amy had her 4th birthday pary with all her friends from nursery today. We went to Crazy Kids and I don't think it could have been any better. It was very well organised and painless from a parental point of view. Amy had a wonderful time running about the ball pools & slides with her friends. Then it was off for some disco dancing and old fashioned party games after a spot of lunch.

The Stagecoach Kid

Amy went to Stagecoach today for the very first time. She was quite looking forward to it until she got there and then nerves got the better of her. However, by the end of it she was having a whale of a time and even insisted on wearing her uniform out to lunch afterwards.

Apparently what they actually did is a great secret but we have managed to find out that it involved some kind of singing, dancing and acting!!

Ben's 8 Month Health Check

Yesterday was a fairly busy day for Ben. In the morning two lovely ladies from Moulsham Grange Baby Development team came to the house to check on his progress. They were very pleased with him and took away his special chair as he no longer needs help in sitting up! They taught me some new tricks to try out with him to assist with getting into a sitting position and to encourage him to crawl and stand up which are very helpful.

Later in the afternoon, Ben had his 8 month health check (he was exactly 10 months old yesterday so it's a little overdue). The health visitor was happy with him although his head is still very small (on average) so we have to mention that to the Paed when we see her next.

Also the new sofa was delivered. Yeh - no more sitting on a garden bench in the lounge!

Ollie's Birthday Bash

Both the kids (and the adults too) had a lovely time on Saturday at Cousins Ollie's 4th Birthday party. It was a Pirates and Princesses theme and Amy changed outfits at least 4 times. Ben looked very authentic in his little nautical jumper complete with his eye-patch.

Molly looked beautiful in a little white dress that her Granny had brought her - at least until her Daddy gave her a chocolate finger. I nearly fainted!

Ollie had a lovely time playing with all his friends & family and seemed very pleased with his presents.

P.S. I have now added a subscription service to this blog so that friends & family (if they chose) can be emailed when this blog has been updated. To use this service, enter your email address in to the subscribe me box just beneath my profile information. You will then receive an email from Feedblitz - simply click the link in the email to confirm your subscription. Enjoy!

Didn't We Have A Lovely Time The Day We Went To Hertford!

Well the kids had a great time today. We visited Granny & Grandad in Hertford where they were spending the Easter Hols in their Caravan. Amy has a special place in her heart for caravan holidays - must be all that free space to run about in. Ben had a lovely time too and had the most fun stealing Mummy's ice-cream and playing with Amy in the little playground.

Ahoy There! Pirate Ben

Yesterday Ben had a follow up appointment with the Eye Clinic at GOSH. They have said he has to wear a patch over his "good" eye for 1 hour a day to try and strengthen his other one. So he is officially a Pirate - Ollie will be so jealous. He was back at GOSH today for his appointment with the Nerve people. I can safely say that he didn't enjoy nerve conduction testing which basically seems to be that they give you small electric shocks to see if you jump! We'll wait and see what the results of the tests are in due course.

The 06:26 Will Never Be The Same Again

We gave Ally a good send off on Saturday night at The Alma. Myself, Steve & Dave tried our hardest to drink them dry but the bottles just kept coming. I think everyone enjoyed themselves, although my head hurt the next morning!

Abort, Abort!

Well today was supposed to be a big day for Ben. He was going to Great Ormond Street for his MRI scan to try and determine the cause of his Moebius Syndrome and I was mentally all prepared. However, yesterday his little cold bloomed into a full blown chest infection and following the prescription of more antibiotics that was curtains for the GOSH appointment. Fairly understandably they are not going to put a 9 month old baby under general anasthetic whilst he has a chest infection. Nor do they want his germs polluting the atmosphere of the ward where many very sick kids will be trying to recover. All that considered though I'm gutted!

So it's back on the waiting list unless a cancellation comes up and fingers crossed that when we do get another appointment he is well enough for it.

As a further blow now he has had another chest infection he will have to go for some procedure which I won't even try and spell which involves a chest x-ray to try and discover the cause of his repeated chest infections. Ho Hum.

The Kid's Progress

Ben is starting to sit up better now. He has a special chair which he really likes sitting in and we think it is helping him a great deal. He has a big appointment later this week at Great Ormond Street for his MRI scan and I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

Fingers crossed that not only the scan will be ok but that the results it produces will be positive also.

Amy has been offered a place at the local Stagecoach classes. She is quite sure she wants to be an actress when she grows up so we thought we'd give it a try. She is very excited and keeps practising her faces. So far we've had Happy, Sad, Angry, Lost and Thinking!
