He Crawled!

Well almost... over the weekend Ben started to pull himself commando-style. Three long pulls is about his maximum and only if a suitable prize is up for the grabbing e.g. a box of tissues to shread! It's not much but it shows he's getting there.

School Parents Evening

On Wednesday night, Steve and I attended the Parents Evening at Amy's new school. It was a good evening and we came away with a large pack full of forms to complete!

I am a little daunted about Amy going to school and I can't really fathom out why. I mean I've happily sent her off to nursery every day for 4 years so why should this be any different!

She is really looking forward to going and the school is lovely so lets hope she enjoys it.

P.S. We had this lovely photo of the two of them taken at Tumbletots last term and I had to share it. Shame it's in B&W - I'll try and get it into colour soon.

Ben's 1st Haircut!

It was virgin territory for all of us today - having had a girl who insists on having long hair we had never really had to worry about children's haircuts. But, as Granny pointed out, Ben was beginning to look like he was trying to create a comb-over of his bald patch so it was time to get the clippers out! Ben loved it, in fact it made him go a bit misty-eyed and he is now the owner of a haircut any army recruit would be proud of!

Sunny Shepton Mallet

This weekend we all travelled to Shepton Mallet to attend the Christening of James Peter Wood. Our friends Nat & Kev moved to Somerset just before Natalie fell pregnant and it was lovely to see them all again and on such a special day. I wasn't looking forward to the journey but the kids were absolutely perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better trip. Kev & Nat put on a great show with a bouncy castle and ballon artist to keep the kids amused.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well, where to start really. Today has been a busy day. Ben had an appointment at GOSH for a videofluroscopy which basically involved x-raying him whilst he drank and ate. The results were in there and then and it would appear that he is aspirating whilst drinking which means a small amount of the liquid is going into his airways. We now have to ensure that we thicken his drinks to a syrup consistency to ensure that he doesn't get repeated chest infections or worse still pneumonia.

Steve started his new job today. He now works for SBA Support (his own company) which provides technical business analyst services on contract. He started his first contract with Banc Nationale de Parisbar working with lots of old friends (it appears that things are little incestuous in his line of work). This is Amy wearing one of his leaving presents!

And finally, it was my 32nd birthday today. I got lots of lovely presents and enjoyed a nice chinese take-away. Sadly I didn't get my birthday wish of a lay-in though. Maybe next year!

Marsh Farm Mates

Amy and Ben had a wonderful afternoon at Marsh Farm today. We met up with lots of Amy's nursery friends (both past & present) and it's heart warming to see the way they all play together. The hot topic of conversation amongst the parents was the recent Primary school places allocation and I was glad that most people seemed to have been offered a place at their first choice school. Amy has been offered a place at Moulsham Infants which was our first choice. We just need to sort out a place at the before & after school club next door now and then all is prepared for her venture into the world of public education!!

Happy 4th Birthday Amy - Part 2

Amy had her birthday party with her family today. It was a little at home affair with everyone in fancydress. 1st prize went to Granny in her home-made Snow White costume and a special prize went to Grandard John for having the guts to come as Prince Charming (complete with pink suede boots!!). This time we didn't even try and defy the weather to bar-b-que! Paula, Gavin, Evie & Morgan joined us too as did Ollie & Mollie and the kids had a great time playing together. Amy was thrilled with all her presents. She especially liked her Snow White dress & little Lumpy handbag and was overjoyed with her bike.

All in all we counted that Amy changed outfits at least 12 times!
