It's International Week at school and on Monday they had to go dressed in the colours of an International flag. Amy wanted to wear red, white and blue and in light of Auntie Terry's impending visit from Australia we chose that flag.
So on Monday she went to school dressed from head to toe in red, white & blue - even down to her nail varnish (special treat only!) with the Australian flag pinned to her back. We now know all about how the Australian flag came to be - its been around since 1901 did you know!!
Then today, Amy finally had a wish from true.... All year she has been begging me to come into school and help out (like Katie's Mum, or Connor's Mum or whoever's mum - the list is endless).
Well this time they had a request for foreign language speakers to visit and pass on some of their knowledge to the children and for the first time ever it was on a Tuesday.
So I spent this morning playing French bingo with Amy's class (Ben had a lovely morning with Nanna Diane). They should now all know how to count to 5, the colours Red - Blue - Yellow & Green & the words Fish - Boat & Apple. Some of them were really good but if they remember it all when they get home I will be very surprised!
I had a really good time and Amy was so happy I was there, it was very sweet. Amy's teacher said she wanted me to come back and do something about Sign Language if possible and if they can arrange it for that illusive Tuesday then I will definitely be there.
